Stain Finishing Process

  1. Covered Bridge Cabinetry hand selects the finest North American lumber.
  2. All surfaces are meticulously hand sanded with fine grit sandpaper to provide the ideal canvas for the finishing process.  (Proper sanding is the foundation to a perfect finish)
  3. Dust particles are removed from the surface and air prior to each step of the finishing process.
  4. Depending on stain color, we utilize a specially formulated, two or three step color process to achieve the final color. First, a hand sprayed grain-enhancing dye stain is applied to enhance the natural characteristics of the wood.
  5. A hand sprayed pigmented stain is applied to soften and add a rich feel to the first stain coat.
  6. Depending on the final stain color, a third hand sprayed pigmented stain may be applied to complete the color process.
  7. The product is then oven dried before moving on to the first sealer coat.
  8. An environmentally conscious sealer is hand sprayed, then cured to paint supplier specifications in an oven.
  9. The product is seal sanded by hand in preparation for a second sealer coat.
  10. The second coat of sealer is hand sprayed, then cured in a high-temperature oven.
  11. The product is seal sanded by hand a second time in preparation for a top coat.
  12. A third dense coat of top coat with UV inhibitors is sprayed on by hand, then cured in an oven, providing a durable finish and pulling all the color from the multi-step color process to the surface.  (UV inhibitors help protect the finish from the effects of the sun)
  13. The product is continuously monitored for quality and inspected for finish consistency. Gloss levels are checked using a sheen meter.
  14. The product is delivered to the final stages of manufacturing.
